THE OUTLINE
Android At Arms
- A California court rules that getting in an accident because you were screwing with your maps app can get you just as dead as screwing with a text message. This was a good use of a court's time.
- Microsoft's fake consumer advocacy group complained about Google bundling its apps with its dominant operating system, failed to notice the real irony.
Code Google
- Google's unified messenger is definitely called Babel, at least internally, and it looks pretty cool.
- There's also a brand new look to the Play Store. There are cards everywhere.
- With all this sweet, new shiny stuff floating around, Google gets all morbid and reminds us that we're all born to die.
- Also, this Nexus 10 cover came out, but...what's the point? You can't take a tablet to the grave.
The Hotsheet
- Samsung goes for broke, releases the Galaxy Mega, in 5.8" and 6.3" sizes. Because screw your pockets.
- The Galaxy Note 8.0 will arrive to rend your garments in twain for $400 on April 11th. You know, yesterday.
- Galaxy Win is a stupid name for a phone.
- HTC's profits tanked 98% YOY in Q1. Which is just generally sad.
- Device updates: U.S. Cellular rolls out 4.1.2 for Galaxy Axiom,T-Mobile's Galaxy S II getting Jelly Bean via Kies, AT&T's Skyrocket gets Jelly Bean via Kies, Sprint rolling out 4.1.2 to Galaxy Victory
Developer News
- Koush releases a universal ADB driver for Windows 8 and Cameron squeals like a schoolgirl with root access.
- Dan Rosenberg doesn't foresee much more rooting and modding for Motorola handsets. Could this outline please stop being so sad?
In Other News
- Sony is probably bringing native support for DualShock 3 controllers to Xperia phones. This is what is called "product synergy," or as its known in the consumer world, "common sense."
- Cameron will show you how to make your Transformer Pad Infinity look a bit more stock Android-y. holoyolo
